3M™ VHB™ Tape 4646 is a 25.0 mil thick, double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic adhesive foam tape used for bonding metals and other high surface energy materials.
3M™ VHB™ Tape is comprised of closed-cell foam with pressure-sensitive adhesive on two sides. This unique combination offers benefits that screws, rivets, welds and other types of mechanical fasteners just can’t match. In many situations they can replace other permanent fasteners. They are made with acrylic foam which is viscoelastic in nature. This gives the foam energy absorbing and stress relaxing properties which provides these tapes with their unique characteristics. The acrylic chemistry provides outstanding durability performance. 3M™ VHB™ Tape 4646 has a general purpose adhesive on both sides of firm foam. It is typically used on metal substrates and has the added feature of high temperature resistance, making it suitable for bonding prior to high temperature paint processing.
