Recall Notice: Specific 3M™ DBI-SALA® Seat Belt™ 2D & 4D Lineman Belts

RECALL NOTICE - IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

Specific 3M™ DBI-SALA® Seat Belt™ 2D & 4D Lineman Belts Compliant to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z259.1-05 Section 6.2 & ASTM F887-13.

As  part of 3M Fall Protection’s continued commitment to producing high quality safety and personal protective equipment, we conduct periodic testing of our products.  Recent testing of specific 3M™DBI-SALA® Delta™ Seat Belt™ 2D & 4D Lineman Belts (see pictures to right) has returned unfavorable test results on some units. These Lineman Belts are certified to a variety of standards but specifically this recall applies to the compliance with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z259.1-05 Section 6.2 and ASTM F887-13. This section requires the belt system to be dynamically tested to ensure the last tongue buckle belt grommet will hold up in a misuse situation or accident involving only one D-ring being connected. In recent internal testing, some of these models did not meet this dynamic test requirement. Because they are marked as meeting the CSA and ASTM F887-13 standards and we experienced the recent non-passing tests, 3M Fall Protection is issuing a recall for specific 2D and 4D models (see part numbers listed below) manufactured between Sept. 19, 2019 and June 30, 2020. 

Please note: these 3M™ DBI-SALA® 2D & 4D Lineman Belts do meet the test procedures stated in OSHA 1926 Subpart “M”, Appendix “D”.

 

 

End Users: Please inspect your 3M™ DBI-SALA® Lineman Belt to verify whether it is one of the affected P/Ns listed above and that the manufactured date ranges from 19/Sept to 20/June. The P/N and manufactured date can be found on the label - see picture below. Since the detection of this issue, a design modification has been completed to ensure compliance to this standard. All product produced before and after this date range meets the requirements of the CSA & ASTM standard. Once you have confirmed the P/N, the affected date and it falls within the specified range, please contact the 3M Fall Protection Customer Service Team at call 1-833-998-2243. We will arrange to have your Lineman Belt returned to 3M Fall Protection. If it passes the pre-use inspection, we will replace your Lineman Belt free of charge. If it does not pass the pre-use inspection, we will dispose of the product and contact you.
