Inspection
• Respirator must be inspected before each use; repair or dispose of it if damaged or defective
• Check the faceseal for cracks, tears and dirt
• Examine the inhalation valves for distortion, cracking or tearing
•Check that the headstraps are intact and have good elasticity
• Examine all plastic parts and gaskets for cracking and fatigue
• Examine exhalation valve for cracks, tear, distortion, etc; replace valve if necessary
• Check lens for signs of cracking or damage; replace if necessary
Do not enter a contaminated area while wearing a damaged or defective respirator.
Cleaning and storage
Cleaning is recommended after each use.
• Remove cartridges, filters and/or breathing tubes
• Remove centre adapter, lens and faceseal, if necessary
• Clean facepiece by immersing it in warm cleaning solution
• Scrub with a soft bristle brush until clean
• Water temperature must not exceed 49º C (120º F)
• Disinfect facepiece by soaking in a solution of quaternary ammonia disinfectant, sodium hypochloride or household bleach
• Rinse in fresh, warm water and air dry in a non-contaminated atmosphere
• Place clean, dry respirator in a clean bag and store away from the contaminated area when not in use
• 3M™ Respirator Cleaning Wipes can be used for interim cleaning but must not be the only cleaning method in place
