3M™ Cold Shrink Insulators are open-ended, tubular, EPDM rubber sleeves which are factory expanded and assembled onto a removable core. The core is removed after the tube has been positioned for installation over an inline connection, terminal lug, etc., allowing the tube to shrink and form a water-resistant seal.

3M™ Cold Shrink Insulators are designed using a unique cold shrink delivery system. They are supplied prestretched on a removable core for efficiency and ease of installation. Removal of the core after positioning allows the product to shrink into position forming a moisture-tight seal. The live memory action of the specially formulated material ensures a permanent, durable environmental seal and insulation.

Suggested applications
  • Primary electrical insulation for all solid dielectric (rubber and plastic) up to 1kV
  • Direct burial and submersible applications
  • Insulate tape shield, wire shield or UniShield® cable
  • Environmental sealing for communications and other non-electrical applications
  • Sheath repairs
  • Physical protection and moisture sealing for air-insulated connectors and lugs such as spacer cable and lug connections to bus bar
