3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape 5403 features a heat-activated adhesive on an 0.8 mm viscoelastic acrylic foam core. The adhesive creates an immediate, durable bond to EPDM/TPE and many TPV materials. Liner-side adhesive is designed specifically for bonding to high-solids clear coat systems. The conformable foam core provides excellent wet-out for automotive weatherstripping and gasket seals.
Developed specifically for attaching gasket and weatherstrip seals in automotive applications, 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape 5403 features a grey, 0.8 mm acrylic foam core with an extremely strong heat-activated adhesive formulated for an immediate, consistent and durable bond to EPDM/TPE materials. This adhesive delivers high initial tack, rapid build and excellent final adhesion without the use of an adhesion promoter, and resists temperatures up to 203°F (95°C) for efficient application prior to sealing coating bakes. The adhesive is applied to the non-liner side of an 0.8 mm acrylic foam core designed to help maintain seal integrity. The viscoelastic core provides excellent wet-out as well as stress relaxation when exposed to high application loads. Adhesive applied to the liner side of the core is designed for the high initial and final bond to automotive trim and part materials. This adhesive is suitable for plastics with plasticizers as well as traditional and newer automotive paints including rigid clear coat systems, and may also be suitable for ABS, PC and many flexible clear coats. The polyethylene liner is silicone-coated on one side, suitable for heat-bond tabbing.
