The 3M™ Double Coated Tape 9828 features a thin film carrier and a medium-firm acrylic adhesive that works well on many plastics and foams. The 3M™ Adhesive 340 provides good initial adhesion and holding power to a wide variety of materials including HSE plastics. The 0.5 mil (0.01 mm) polyester carrier adds dimensional stability and improved handling during slitting and die cutting operations.
A thin, consistent alternative to glue, the 3M™ Double Coated Tape 9828 can be used for foam, fabric, and gasket attachment. This tape offers long term temperature performance up to 120°F (49°C). A clear .5 mil (0.01 mm) polyester film carrier between adhesive layers adds dimensional stability to foams and other substrates and provides easier handling during slitting and die cutting. The 3M™ Adhesive 340 is applied to the liner side of the film at 1.5 mil (0.04 mm) and at 2.0 mil (0.05 mm) on the face side for effective wet out. The white 55 densified kraft paper liner is compatible with rotary die cutting. Double coated film tapes with the 3M™ Adhesive 340 are ideal for applications where a combination of high initial adhesion and good shear strength for a wide variety of materials, including many plastics and foams, is required. In general, double coated tape is composed of a paper, film or tissue carrier that is coated on both sides with pressure sensitive adhesive. The adhesive is protected by a peel away liner that is removed at the time of application. These tapes can be applied by hand or with a dispenser. Double coated tape dispensers are available in a variety of configurations ranging from manual to fully automatic. Applications for double coated tape are found in electronics, automotive, aerospace, general industrial, and fabrication markets.
