The 3M™ Cold Shrink Secondary Splice Kit is a 35 kV-class inline splice for joining tape, longitudinally corrugated (LC), wire and UniShield® Shielded Power Cables. It is a cold shrink design sized to fit type MV-90 or type MV-105 cables with copper or aluminum conductor sizes ranging from 1/0 AWG to 350 kcmil (60 to 185 mm2).

3M™ Cold Shrink Secondary Splice Kits are designed using 3M’s unique cold shrink delivery system. Products are supplied pre-stretched on a removable core for efficiency and ease of installation. The removable core unwinds after positioning the splice, allowing the product to shrink into position and form a moisture resistant seal. The live-memory action of the specially formulated material ensures a permanent, durable environmental seal and insulation. The kit meets the requirements of IEEE-404, and each splice is factory tested on power cable to ensure long-term reliability and quality. The splices can be used for direct burial applications, as well as in manholes, vaults, cable trays and junction boxes.

Suggested applications
  • Partial discharge and A.C. withstand tests to provide reliability
  • Compact size and optimal distribution of electrical field
  • Electrode design helps to minimize electrical stress at critical cable/splice interface
