Scientists at 3M spent years to develop these new tapes with great attention to sustainability. The 3M™ Temflex™ General Use Vinyl Electrical Tape 165 and 175 tapes are the first solvent-free vinyl electrical tapes we’ve ever offered, for a more environmentally-friendly product.
No solvents are used in the manufacturing process. As a result, you may notice the tape smells different than traditional vinyl electrical tapes.
The new sustainable formulation means the black tape will turn slightly grey when it is stretched. This is normal and does not affect performance or protection in any way.
Pro-Tip: When the tape is stretched and turns slightly grey, you know you have
good tension and can apply tight wraps.
